Date: 22nd Mar 2024 @ 8:13am

Lift off - 1pm March 14th 2024 - saw year 5 launch into Astro Camp 2024. The children were able to take part in a range of space themed activities to deepn their knowledge and understanding of the planets and the wider universe. We were excited to be able to borrow the planetarium from Edgehill University so that the children could observe the milky way and look closely at stars and constellations. The children created and luanched their own rockets, ran through space and time during orienteering, dropped meteroites and measured the impact of these on a planets surface, closely study the surface of the moon and create a moonsaic and even find out their age on different planets within our solar system. The event was topped off with a film and then out to camp. The weather wasn't at its best but the children were amazing. Well done Year 5, what a superb event.

Visit from Dame Angela Eagle, by Mrs Horton

Date: 15th Mar 2024 @ 4:09pm

We were delighted to host Dame Angela Eagle MP for Wallasey. The visit was to discuss our recent accreditation as a Voice21 Oracy Centre of Excellence. Angela was interested to hear from our children about how oracy helps them with their learning and how oracy has helped them to develop confidence in speaking out aloud.

As part of her job as an MP, speaking and listening skills are very important and the children were interested to find out about what it is like to be an politician. Angela was able to meet Mr Cassidy and other key staff, hold a discussion panel with some of our children and watch an oracy assembly in year 6. She told us that she had never seen an assembly like that before.

We are very proud of our oracy skills at St George's and we love to talk to visitors.  We were very appreciative of Dame Angela's curiosity and her generosity with her time.
