4A Artists!, by Miss Lewis

Date: 13th Jul 2021 @ 3:48pm

4A took to our beautiful centinery gardens to paint some Monet-inspired artworks.

We explored Monet's work and the Impressionism style, then created colour wheels using primary, secondary and tertiary watercolours. After this, we used a variety of brushes to create different strokes to represent grass, leaves, clouds and flowers before taking our art outside and painting in the sunshine.

Some masterpieces were created. Well done, 4A!

Hair-rising charity success for Eddie!, by Mrs Walters

Date: 13th Jul 2021 @ 9:15am

Well done and thank you to one of our pupils who has raised more than £650 for charity.

Year 5 pupil Eddie Walker has been growing his hair for two years with the plan of cutting it when he had raised enough money for The Little Princess Trust to pay for a wig for a child with cancer.

Each wig costs £550 and Eddie has proved he's a cut above by hitting a total of £655!

His family and school are very proud of him for his selfless behaviour and fantastic charity spirit - well done Eddie!

If anyone would like to add to this amount his Just Giving page is still live:

Congratulations to Mr Cassidy on a national teaching award!, by Mrs Walters

Date: 23rd Jun 2021 @ 3:46pm

Mr Cassidy has won a national teaching award after being nominated by the Senior Leadership Team and the governors.
He was presented with his Pearson Bronze Teaching award at a special whole school virtual assembly this afternoon.
The assembly was designed to say thank you to school staff as part of Thank a Teacher Day but staff and pupils had been secretly planning surprise messages for Mr Cassidy!
Every year group made a video thanking Mr Cassidy for his support for everyone at St George's over the past year before Mrs Skarratts-Jackson presented him with his award.
The children made posters, recited poems and even made a song describing Mr Cassidy as kind, caring and helpful, very good at maths and always smiling.
Years 5 and 6 then surprised him with a hand made banner.
Later on there was a second presentation with members of the Leadership team at school and the Chair and Vice Chair of Governors.
Well done to everyone for keeping the secret and thank you and congratulations to Mr Cassidy.
