2B - Visit to Santa, by Miss Gough-Hughes

Date: 15th Dec 2020 @ 11:33am

2B - Santa visiting

Today, the children were incredibly lucky to have a visit from Father Christmas!!! The children couldn't believe that Santa had come all the way from the North Pole to visit our school this year. He asked the children lots of questions such as what they would like for Christmas? He even knew some facts about them such as them having a new puppy. We were so lucky to have Santa visit us in our outdoor grotto! I'm sure the class will be so excited to tell you all about it later when they get home! :)

Pop Art Printing Techniques in 6A!, by Miss M Jones

Date: 11th Dec 2020 @ 10:00pm

Since November, our Year 6 children have been learning about three art styles: cubism, expressionism, and pop art. For the past two weeks, we have delved a little deeper into pop art - more specifically, the techniques used by world-renowned Brazilian artist, Romero Britto.
Today, 6A tried and evaluated many different printing techniques in vibrant colours, taking inspiration from the bold colours used by Britto in his art pieces. We used an abundance of materials to create lots of textures and patterns in our sketchbooks. Some of which included: polysheets; cardboard stamps; string stamps; art straws; tinfoil; glue spreaders; cotton reels; and cocktail sticks. Many of the children enjoyed using the polysheets and rollers to create repeating patterns in the style of Andy Warhol. We will carry on this activity on Monday!
Check out 6A's fantastic printing patterns below, as well as their factfiles on Romero Britto.

2C really got in the Christmas spirit today by enjoying some delicious, warm hot chocolate and a gingerbread man in our outdoor Christmas grotto.  The wind and the rain did not stop us enjoying listening to Christmas stories, marvelling at the Christmas decorations and sharing in the magic of Christmas.  Here is a snapshot of our session.

6C Snowman Challenge, by Mr Knowles

Date: 8th Dec 2020 @ 3:32pm

Unfortunately, the weather put any Santa Dash plans on hold for 6C today with puddles and rain all day. We took part in a festive team building Snowman building Challenge as part of PE instead. The children came up with some excellent creations and worked hard throughout. Some excellent festive attire too! Well done 6C!

We will hopefully be able to fit in a time for them to Santa Dash before the end of term.
