Maths at St George's

Maths at St George's

Math's at St George's may look a little different in different year groups, however we all have the same key principles running throughout. We have added documents that explain the key age related expectations for each year group.  We hope that allows parents to understand the age realted expectations for their children.  Our key aim is to ensure that children have a real understanding of mathematical processes and concepts.  We call this mastering learning in mathematics.

Below we have written a brief summary of what daily maths is like in each Key Stage.

Foundation Stage

Key Stage One

Key Stage Two

Math's within Key Stage Two takes place daily and lasts and 1 hour and 15 minutes. This hour includes counting, number sense and our key concepts. Throughout all of this , we follow the CPA approach and the children will be reasoning and problem solving.
