Year 5 Learning Showcase: A Celebration of Creativity and Curiosity

Year 5 students today invited their families to a spectacular showcase of their learning, offering a unique opportunity to explore the diverse and exciting projects they’ve been working on this term. Parents and carers journeyed around the school, visiting different interactive stations where children demonstrated their skills and shared their newfound knowledge.

A Journey Through Music

In the hall, Year 5 dazzled families with their performance of “Living on a Prayer” on glockenspiels and through their vibrant singing. The children’s ' enthusiasm and musical talent were on full display, showcasing the hard work they've put into mastering this classic hit.

PE: Teamwork in Action

In the sports hall, Year 5 showed off their PE invasion games skills, demonstrating different passes and shots in basketball and netball. The students’ understanding of teamwork and coordination was evident as they took parents through the techniques they’ve been practising throughout the term, encouraging everyone to join in the fun.

Exploring Geography with Technology

Next, families were transported around  North America, where students used atlases, globes, and virtual reality headsets to explore countries and landmarks. It was an engaging, hands-on way for the students to share their knowledge of geography, while parents were impressed by the innovative tools that brought the subject to life.

Science: Materials and Space

In the science lab, students demonstrated their understanding of material properties by conducting exciting experiments and explaining the science behind everyday objects. They also showcased their exploration of space, with models of planets and solar systems, as well as in-depth explanations about the mysteries of our universe.

Creative Arts: Original Masterpieces

In the hall, Year 5 proudly displayed their creative works, from paintings to sculptures, each piece a reflection of their growing artistic skills and imagination. Families had the chance to get involved with the young artists and learn about the techniques and inspirations from Fauvism behind their original pieces.

Forest School: Immersive Learning

Families made their way to the Forest School area, where students invited them to join an immersive lesson designed to build tension in writing. With the help of nature and the great outdoors, students explored their new text and created suspenseful stories, encouraging families to contribute ideas and get involved in this interactive learning experience.

It was a truly memorable event, highlighting the incredible dedication and enthusiasm of Year 5 students, as well as the invaluable support of their families. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the many ways they continue to grow as learners.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for this special day!
