Motivational speaker - Andy Grant, by Miss Hughes
Date: 18th Nov 2020 @ 2:33pm
Today we had the priveledge of meeting Andy Grant, a former Royal Marine who is now sharing his story all over the world, of persevering, team work and survivial.
We were lucky enough to meet him in person (socially distanced) and he told us his inspiring life story from overcoming the loss of his mother in his youth, to his experience surviving an IED explosion whilst serving in the Marines, and living life now to the fullest as an amputee.
He has helped our children to see that sometimes life can throw you a few curve balls, but with the right attitude and mindset we are able to overcome them.
From all of Year 5, thank you Andy! πͺπ½ππ½βοΈπ§π½βοΈπ₯

Andy Grant Military Motivational Speaker Assembly At Topsite, by Pickering
Date: 18th Nov 2020 @ 4:01pm
Today year five and six had a special visit from Andy Grant, a motivational speaker from Liverpool. At such a young age, Andy has been through more than most people do in their lifetime. From losing his mother aged 12, to joining the Royal Marines, to active service in Iraq and Afghanistan, to being injured by an IED, Medically Discharged and facing life as an amputee but that didn't stop Andy Grant. The children were gripped to his every word. Our children said:
"Listening to him was like watching an action film."
"He made me feel braver."
"That was the coolest assembly I've ever had!"
Nathan from 6B said, "If you could go back and have both your legs and no setbacks would you?"
Our children really thought deeply about their questions. Andy inspired topsite today and we want to send him a big St George's Thank You.
