Parental Rights and Conflict

School staff must ensure that all parents are welcomed into school and supported to engage in their child's development and education.

Parental rights are a matter of law.  School staff and parents shoudl refer to the Department Of Education's guidance regarding Understanding and dealing with issues relating to parental responsibility  if any queries arise.

Only restrictions on this would occur due to safeguarding advice or a court order.

School must remain impartial if a dispute arises in matter sof shared responsibility.  We always advise mediation in these issues and signpost families to CAFCASS guidance on parenting plans.
