Careers in Gaming: A Visit from Industry Professionals
Pupils at St George's were treated to a truly exciting careers assembly this week, hearing from two incredible guests with fascinating roles in the gaming industry.
Hannah, a school mum and recruitment specialist working in games, and Ivan, an award-winning developer whose work has earned him a BAFTA, came in to talk to children about their careers and the world of professional gaming.
Together they opened pupils' eyes to the huge variety of roles that exist within the industry — and crucially, how the subjects children are already learning and loving at school can lead them there. Whether it's art, maths, music, writing, or computing, the message was clear: there is a place in gaming for every kind of talent.
Hannah, who is also an ambassador for Women in Games, spoke passionately about the importance of the industry being open and welcoming to everyone, inspiring pupils to see that gaming is a world where all are valued. Ivan's BAFTA credentials gave children a real sense of the creativity and skill that goes into making the games they know and love.
The assembly left pupils buzzing with excitement about what the future could hold, and a new appreciation for the lessons they are learning every day.
A huge thank you to Hannah and Ivan for giving up their time to inspire our St George's community!
