Dermot O'Leary Memorable Author Visit

Children and staff at St George's had a fabulous morning with author and presenter Dermot O'Leary.

Dermot stayed with us for the full morning, delivering two assembly workshops on writing with an extended question and answer session for 480 children and our staff teams.

Dermot inspired children with his reflections on writing stories as a child in Ireland in his passion for story telling.  Everybody appreciated his enthusiasm and how generous he was with his time.

Dermot O'Leary Visits St George's

A huge thank you to Miss Hughes for all her organisation.  Miss Hughes and Mrs Davies for hosting the morning and our partners at Lingham's bookshop who facilitated the visit.

Dermot O’Leary is the bestselling author of the Toto the Ninja Cat series, which has sold hundreds of thousands of copies and been translated into sixteen languages.

His passion for history is evident in his two most recent novels:

  1. Wings of Glory
  2. Spy Fox and the Ancient Feathers

His career in television, radio and entertainment has established him as a household name. He’s presented shows for BBC, ITV and Channel 4, and his Radio 2 show airs on Saturday mornings. He is passionate about history but when he’s not got his head in a history book, he enjoys time with his son and an afternoon at the Arsenal, or a nice wild swim. You can find Dermot on Twitter and Instagram: @radioleary

He shares his studio in York with a whippet called Alfie and a huge lurcher called Basil. He is the illustrator of the bestselling Goodnight series by Michelle Robinson, which includes the Tim Peake-inspired title, Goodnight Spaceman, and more recently his brand-new picture book, Knock Knock Dinosaur.
