World Championship Success in Gymnastics

Two of our Year 2 pupils have had an amazing time representing the UK at the International Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs (IGC) World Championships, which were held in Florida, USA.

Aubrey and Esme successfully qualified through their club, New Brighton Gymnastics Club, earlier this year.

The competition brought together thousands of gymnasts from clubs across five countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, India and South Africa. Both

The girls performed routines on all four apparatus: bars, beam, floor and vault.

Aubrey achieved:

• 1st Place on Floor – World Champion
• 6th Place on Vault
• 7th Place on Beam
• 4th All-Around World Championship placing
• 6th Overall in her competition category
• World Champion on Floor

Esme achieved:

• 1st All-Around World Champion
• 1st Overall Champion
• 1st Place on Floor – World Champion
• 2nd Place on Vault
• 2nd Place on Beam
• 4th Place on Bars

Aubrey and Esme’s parents said: ‘We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved. Their dedication, resilience and countless hours of training have all contributed to this incredible success on the world stage.’
