Y6 Arrive in Our Nation's Capital!
Year 6 have had a truly wonderful first day in England’s capital city, London — and we were incredibly lucky to enjoy beautiful sunshine throughout! The children were brilliantly behaved on the train journey and represented the school superbly from the very start.
After arriving, we made our way to Bernie Spain Gardens on the lively South Bank, where the children enjoyed a relaxed picnic lunch together. Spirits were high as they took in the sights and sounds of the city, spotting famous landmarks and soaking up the atmosphere.
In the afternoon, we boarded a river cruise along the River Thames. The children were excited to see some of London’s most iconic landmarks from the water, listening carefully to the commentary and eagerly pointing out recognisable sights. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring their geography and history learning to life.
We then visited the Imperial War Museum, where the children explored a range of powerful and thought-provoking exhibits. They moved around the galleries sensibly and respectfully, asking insightful questions and showing real maturity in their discussions.
After such a full and exciting day, everyone enjoyed a hearty dinner back at the YHA. The children have settled well this evening and are in great spirits, ready for a good night’s rest before another busy day tomorrow.
We are incredibly proud of how they have conducted themselves so far — let’s see what adventures tomorrow brings!
