Year 5- British Science Week
This week, we have been celebrating British Science Week, with this year’s theme “Curiosity: What’s Your Question?”
As part of our learning, we were delighted to welcome Miss Walker into our school assembly who spoke to the children about her career in pharmacy. Her talk fascinated the children, who listened carefully and asked thoughtful questions about medicines, healthcare and the important role pharmacists play in everyday life.
Each class also enjoyed an exciting session led by two fantastic members of staff from Mosslands School, who taught the children about ecosystems and how living things depend on one another in the environment.
To link with our science learning, the children created birdhouses using recycled materials and discussed the importance of protecting sparrows and other birds in our country. This helped them understand how small actions can make a big difference in caring for wildlife and the environment.
It has been a wonderful week full of curiosity, creativity and scientific thinking, with children enthusiastically exploring new ideas and making meaningful links between science and the world around them.
