Starting in Foundation One at St George's

Foundation Transition Events

What Happens

We write to Foundation 1 parents confirming your child's place at St George’s.

Mid May

Please ensure that we have up to date contact details

We visit F1 children in their home environment if requested

May / June

An opportunity for your child to meet the staff in their home environment. Vists are available to all children but must be requested individually. 

We invite you to a parents induction meeting

Mid June

This is a parent only meeting to go through essential information and complete all additional compulsary paperwork . This event is not suitable for children.

Children come for a 'Stay and Play’ session to meet their new teacher and children in their class.

July

This is a fun event for parents and children to share. A great opportunity to meet all the staff and families in a friendly and informal way. This event is delivered in AM or PM sessions.

Children start on a staggered intake over a two week period.

First two weeks in September

Children are admitted in small groups over a two week period. Start dates are non- negotiable in fairness to all parents. All children are admitted by end of second week in September.

We hold parent / teacher coffee mornings

End of September

An opportunity to learn a little more about Early Years, our curriculum and meet with your child’s Teacher / TA to discuss settling in.

Timetable - what a day looks like:

The specific timetable for each clas will vary as shared spaces and specialist teaching are on rota – however subject allocation times will remain consistent

The F1 timetable will develop and change each term in line with children’s stages of development.  15 hour 9morning or afternoon) pupils will have Literacy / Maths / Phonics focus on a daily rota.

This is an example timetable for one F1 class.
