Year 6 production, by Mrs Walters

Date: 11th Jul 2018 @ 2:19pm

Our year 6 production of Pirates of Penzance will be held at The Mosslands School tomorrow, Thursday 12th July.

If your child has a part in the production we will be walking them down to Mosslands for rehearsals after their lunch and will supervise them until the performance time of 6pm.

We will provide the children with some refreshments throughout the afternoon, but we do ask that you send them to school with something for them to eat later on.

We hope that you will be attending the performance (tickets still available from the office), but if you are unable to, we are expecting to finish around 7:30pm.

Children must be collected from The Mosslands School: we will not be allowing any child to walk home unsupervised.

Please let Dragon Club know if you wish to cancel your place if your child is booked in for Thursday.

Children who are not taking part in the performance can be collected from school as normal.

Foundation: Gender and Families

Year 1: Culture

Year 2: Childrens rights/age

Year 3: Religion

Year 4: Disability

Year 5: LGBT+

Year 6: Refugees

Our work this week has been noticed by Angela Eagle who has left us a message of support:

Angela Eagle said: ‘School Diversity Week is such an important campaign. It is vital that we give our young people the confidence to embrace who they are, and that we teach all children to respect people for who they are, and to celebrate difference. I want to congratulate St. George’s and all those involved in running School Diversity Week, and for encouraging pupils and teachers in the school to be positive and accepting of everyone because recognising diversity and treating everyone with respect is the key to creativity no a happier and healthier school and a happier and healthier community.’

We'll have a full video of what happened over School Diversity Week coming soon....

Year 4 Diversity Week, by Mrs Saunders

Date: 12th Jul 2018 @ 10:13am

Last week we celebrated Diversity Week. As well as finding out what was meant by diversity we explored disabilities.

We then watched a short animation about a boy who received a special present from his mum. This made us think what it must be like to live with a disability. After the film and our group discussions we presented our own piece of work about the boy.  We also shared our work with our year 3 friends at the end of the week.

Take a look at some of our work in progress.

If you would like to watch the film, go to the literacy shed website and search for the film called, The Present.
