6A Create Christingles!, by Miss M Jones

Date: 8th Dec 2020 @ 2:38pm

This morning, 6A had a go at making their very own Christingle, which they took along to the church this afternoon as part of our Christmas service. We had lots of fun making them - some even enjoyed eating the parts after they got back from the church! At the church, children spoke about the symbolism surrounding Christingles, and then sang a rendition of Silent Night and even attempted some sign language!
Keep an eye out for the upload of 6A's Christmas service......

6A - Christingle, by Mr Nathan

Date: 17th Dec 2020 @ 9:50pm

6A headed over to Claremount Church to put their learning into practice as they held their Christingle service. We shared the meaning of the symbols of Christingle, read a related bible passage and thought about how this relates to our lives over the last year. We finished off with a traditional carol which we sung acapella alongside a sprinkle of Makaton. Enjoy!

5D Snowman Challenge, by Mr Knowles

Date: 8th Dec 2020 @ 10:52am

As the weather has conspired against us today, unfortunately 5D’s Santa Dash has been postponed for now. Instead, the children took part in a Snowman Building Challenge as part of their PE lesson. This involved team work, problem solving and quick movement. They will hopefully be able to squeeze in a Santa Dash before the end of term. Well done 5D :)

Well done 5B and 6B. Other classes will appear as the week goes on.

3D Artwork, by Miss Mulheirn

Date: 3rd Dec 2020 @ 5:23pm

3D have loved learning all about colour mixing and mark making over the last couple of weeks. They have studied the artwork of Mark Rothko and Jules McKeown. Mark Rothko is famous for his colour field paintings and use of rectangular shapes. They then compared Rothko's artistic style to artwork made by Jules McKeown, who is a textile and print making lecturer from Leeds. Here are our final designs. We hope you love them as much as we loved making them!

Eliza 3C Christmas song, by Miss Bennett

Date: 3rd Dec 2020 @ 8:25pm

This week Year3 have been very excited to discover they have their very own little pop star amongst them. Eliza, from 3C, has written their very own Christmas song along with a music video to go with it. Eliza decided to write this song to not only spread a little bit of Christmas cheer, but to also raise money for Chester Zoo who have felt the impact of the recent pandemic. Well done Eliza, we are all extremely proud of you!

Here is the link for you to listen and enjoy Eliza's song.

A mysterious letter appears in Year 4.., by Miss Berry

Date: 3rd Dec 2020 @ 10:38am

Year 4 classes received a very important letter today.. The children thought it might have been an Ancient Greek artefact, a letter from the queen knighting them all or a report from Mr Cassidy to say how brilliant their behaviour had been!

It was actually a plea from Mr Brownstone, the Chief Historian of the Mythical Creatures Guild requesting the help of our classes to write instructional guides for how to defeat mythical beasts! They are all confident they will be able to use their fantastic writing skills to help.

We will be doing this at the end of every month. Here are some lovely photographs of the birthday boys and girls!
